We always had dogs growing up, but, my father was a Dachshund fan, so we had those. After college one of my first jobs as an administrative assistant was in a small office. The owner of the company traveled a lot, he also had a boxer girl, and part of my job description was to take care of “Topsy”. Topsy wrapped me around her paw in no time. My addiction to the breed had begun.
When I married my husband and I moved from Germany to the States. My sister knowing I could not be without a dog, gave us a gift certificate for a boxer. That was in 1980 and I don’t think rescues were around then. We found our first boxer boy Jo-Jo. Because both of us worked long hours we got him a female companion and our little family of 4 was started. In 2004 our male boxer at that time Max passed away, and I had just read an article in a magazine about Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue, and we decided that was the way to go for a new companion. We adopted three times now and are on boxer pair 7 and 8. They are my life, and I will never be without a loyal, funny, loving boxer .
