Now very much at ease inside Doug sleeps happily on his own bed at night although he will start off on ours! He has also settled upon his area of the couch and snuggles up quietly in the evening while we watch TV. That is until a dog barks on the screen and he is up and checking it all out. Doug loves a walk, and we go on a couple of long ones each day. New experiences and sniffs keep him occupied during this exercise and he keeps an eye on everything and everybody around us during this time. We have met several dogs on our excursions and Doug has been the perfect gentleman (although he will return a growl if one comes his way) The same with everyone he meets. He will give a grumble while his tail is going like the clappers in excrement of meeting someone new (male, female, kid or adult) and once he knows there isn’t a threat he is a big softie. Usually rolling onto his back offering his belly for a loving rub.

While settling in he was very wary of accepting treats and showed very little interest, however that has soon changed, and he will sit and offer a paw if he thinks there is a chance of a treat is coming his way. Car rides too are not a problem, and he sits (or lays) quietly in the back until it’s time to disemBARK (see what I did there!)
He got over his neutering very quickly and is back to crazily running after a tennis ball in the garden and when the zoomies take hold, watch out!! He flies around and warp speed and just when you think he is going to bash into you the brakes go on, and he is under full control. Phew! Crazy but so much fun.

He has just started his heartworm treatment and will be scheduled for his injections in early Jan 2026 and following the completion of that treatment, he will be brand new and ready to live life to its fullest. Watch out World.
Doug is just so sweet, gentle and loving that he would be a wonderful addition to any home. No matter how much love you give him he will give you more
